Please Adopt a Family this Christmas
I wish I could help all the families who have reached out to me from all over the United States, but I am not able to do so. My intent when I posted articles for families in need was to hopefully lead them to organizations that could help them. The outcome of those posts has been an overwhelming number of requests for Christmas help for their children.
I have just spent two hours reading and “approving” over 1oo comments submitted in October to NanaFinds.com on posts …

November is American Diabetes Month
I have students who have Type I diabetes. Just last week, one of my students was finding it difficult to focus. At first I thought it was because it was last period and sometimes it’s easy to drift off. But, I’ve never seen this one student do that before. I’ve been attempting to help families in need by providing contact information of national and local charities. I have received many responses to my posts, most of which are from mothers and grandmothers asking for my help, mostly to help provide a Christmas for their kids. I recently discovered a website, GiveLocally.net, that provides an avenue for families in need to request help. Non-profits are also able to post their requests.

Christmas is a time of giving. It is also presents opportunities for recycling, too. Instead of throwing out your old Christmas tree and decorations, please consider donating it to a local family who can’t afford to buy one this year. Christmas tree decorations and lights can be recycled this way, too! Do something nice for a family in need, Mother Earth, and yourself. Please donate your artificial Christmas tree.

Connecting Families: Artificial Christmas Tree Donations
Many people just throw out their artificial Christmas trees to be picked up at the curb as trash. Donating artificial Christmas trees to low income families in need, or charitable organizations who service families in need, would be a wonderful way to help create a merry Christmas. Recycling artificial Christmas trees will also be beneficial for the environment by reducing the amount of trees sent to the landfill.
If you have an artificial Christmas tree (and Christmas lights) to donate (as instructed below), please leave a …

The US Marine Corp conducts the Toys for Tots campaign every year during the fall. The new, unwrapped toys collected are distributed to families or charitable organizations at Christmas time to bring joy to young children who may not otherwise receive gifts.
Each state is divided into local community organizations. By visiting the Toys for Tots website (link below), parents can find their local organization and directions on how to receive toys for your children at Christmas time.
I searched for two locations in New Jersey. They each had different directions …
