Dear Friends,
Tonight I received the following plea for Christmas help from a very frustrated mother. I don’t have any answers for her. I’m hoping other mothers in the same situation, or people involved with organizations that do help, might have answers for her.

Offers of Christmas Help for Families in Need

//

Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas just four weeks later. This time of the year always seems to fly by too quickly. In all our hustle and bustle of preparing for a happy holiday, we sometimes forget those who are less fortunate. For so many families in need throughout our country who are worrying about how they will provide for the basic necessities and a few simple presents for their children, the holiday season brings anxiety in place of “good cheer.”
This year, there are even more low-income families humbly …

Adopt a Family | Help Families in Need

Please Adopt a Family this Christmas
I wish I could help all the families who have reached out to me from all over the United States, but I am not able to do so. My intent when I posted articles for families in need was to hopefully lead them to organizations that could help them. The outcome of those posts has been an overwhelming number of requests for Christmas help for their children.
I have just spent two hours reading and “approving”  over 1oo comments submitted in October to NanaFinds.com on posts …

How to Help Bret Michaels Stop Diabetes

November is American Diabetes Month
I have students who have Type I diabetes. Just last week, one of my students was finding it difficult to focus. At first I thought it was because it was last period and sometimes it’s easy to drift off.  But, I’ve never seen this one student do that before. I made him focus on me and asked him if he needed to be taken to the nurse. He told me, “I think I’m having a diabetes problem.”  I called the nurse to tell her we were …

Families in Need | Find Help by Helping the Charities

//

I’ve been attempting to help families in need by providing contact information of national and local charities. I have received many responses to my posts, most of which are from mothers and grandmothers asking for my help, mostly to help provide a Christmas for their kids. I may have a way families in need can receive the Christmas help they are seeking.

Give Locally Helps Families in Need

Many families and non-profit organizations are in need of help, more so this time of year when money is scarce to make the holidays special for young children of families in need. I recently discovered a website, GiveLocally.net, that provides an avenue for families in need to request help. Non-profits are also able to post their requests.
GiveLocally.net Helps Families in Need and Non-Profits
The website, with careful screen procedures, allows recipients to reach out to multiple donors who may be able to meet the needs of a family or non-profit organization …
