Tonight I received the following plea for Christmas help from a very frustrated mother. I don’t have any answers for her. I’m hoping other mothers in the same situation, or people involved with organizations that do help, might have answers for her.

Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas just four weeks later. This time of the year always seems to fly by too quickly. In all our hustle and bustle of preparing for a happy holiday, we sometimes forget those who are less fortunate. For so many families in need throughout our country who are worrying about how they will provide for the basic necessities and a few simple presents for their children, the holiday season brings anxiety in place of “good cheer.”

Where there’s a will there’s a way is an old saying that I believe in…it’s just getting off your….you know…and making an attempt. This goes for me, too! There are many things I could do to improve things, but I just put it off until tomorrow. I wish I could help all the families who have reached out to me from all over the United States, but I am not able to do so. My intent when I posted articles for families in need was to hopefully lead them to organizations that could help them. November is American Diabetes Month
I have students who have Type I diabetes. Just last week, one of my students was finding it difficult to focus. I have received many responses to my posts, most of which are from mothers and grandmothers asking for my help, mostly to help provide a Christmas for their kids. Many families and non-profit organizations are in need of help, more so this time of year when money is scarce to make the holidays special for young children of families in need. I recently discovered a website, GiveLocally.net, that provides an avenue for families in need to request help. Non-profits are also able to post their requests.
