Toys for Tots: Christmas Toys for Low-Income Children
The US Marine Corp conducts the Toys for Tots campaign every year during the fall. The new, unwrapped toys collected are distributed to families or charitable organizations at Christmas time to bring joy to young children who may not otherwise receive gifts.
Each state is divided into local community organizations. By visiting the Toys for Tots website (link below), parents can find their local organization and directions on how to receive toys for your children at Christmas time.
I searched for two locations in New Jersey. They each had different directions to follow for receiving free Christmas gifts for children. Directions for one location by following these steps:
First, visit the Toys for Tots website.
- Next, Click on the Tab “Request Toys” at the top
- Select your state
- Select a location
- Click on “Request Toys” tab again – a contact person and phone number will appear at the top
The directions I found for the first location on how to obtain toys for children were:
- Click the name of the local Toys for Tots Coordinator ( An email message will appear)
- Type your request on the email message (Include your mailing address, phone number and FAX number)
- Click send (the message will go to your local Toys for Tots Coordinator)
In searching for another New Jersey location, I found a different direction:
- All toys collected are turned over to the United Way, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Visiting Nurses Assoc., and the PRAC Agency. To get toys you must apply and be eligible through their organizations. We do not deal directly with individual families.
Since directions for requesting toys from Toys for Tots vary, it is in your best interest if you follow through with this search for your location and directions as soon as possible. If you wait too long, you may not be able to apply for free Christmas assistance for your kids to receive Christmas gifts this year.
To all of you who are seeking help for your family,
I have closed comments. Unfortunately, the few “donors” who responded with offers to help turned out to be deceitful. It breaks my heart to read all the requests for Christmas help and to find that so few are willing to donate. And it makes my blood boil knowing now that there are people who don’t mind adding to your heartbreak by playing a sick joke by offering help and then not responding. I am truly sorry I couldn’t help any of you.

This has been a bad year for us. We own our own business and we have no work because of the oil spill, we have been struggling and just making ends meet for our food and paying our main bills, as far as utilites. We are losing our home and will have to move out it real soon. Christmas is not for us but we would love to be able to give to our 6 grandchildren…It just breaks my heart. I have always given donatation to toys for tots, savation army and all the other charities all my life. i need some help with toys for my children. i got 6 kids and my husband check goes on rent and bills.my kid ages are girls 16-7-6 and 8months boys 15 and 12 i would really appricate the help.

hi i lost my job 3 years ago and my wife was been doing every things by self rent and all the bills and i try so hard to help her but aways come back empty she is so great holding her head up high above all things and she still take care of the 4 kids & me amd never her self and it;s so bad that i can;t do any thing about it can some one please help me give my lovely wife and kids a beutiful christmas. thank you!
MYA, AS FOR YOUR ELECTRIC BILL, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GO TO A LOCAL CHURCH IN YOUR AREA BECAUSE MOST OF TH ETIME THEY HELP PEOPLE WITH CHARITY AS FOR HELPING THEM PAY THEIR UTILITY BILLS ETC. TRY IT, GOD PROVIDES US WITH BLESSINGS IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND THROUGH DIFFERENT PEOPLE, HAVE A HAPPY HOLIDAY

Hello! My name is Holly and I am a 26 year old mother of 4 beautiful children! I am needing help trying to get my kids Christmas this year! I do not work for I have several medical problems 1 being a heart condition! My husband does work, he recently started a new job after being layed off for almost a year! He makes just enough money to cover the bills and rent! While he was layed off we as a family lost everything but each other we found ourselves homeless and living with his mom! Since he has been employed at his new job we were able to collect and save our money for our new home which we are in now! However, all of our money is gone to moving in and utilities! So as for Christmas, well thats where i need help! I have been on the Toys-for Tots website and cant figure out how to sign up! Also how do you know if you qualify for the assistance? Please Help!!! Hi my name is Denise. I have two young boys 5 and 2. This has been a terrible year for our family. My husband has been unemployed for 6 months and has been unable to even find a part time holiday job. He has been told he is overqualified. He wants to work, he wants to do anything at this point! I am unable to provide toys for my boys this year because I am having trouble paying all of our bills at the moment, plus our car engine blew out a few weeks ago so I am now in debt to an in-law for that. My one hope for Christmas this year is that my husband will get a job. My 5 year old has asked for a few things but the one thing he would like is newer clothing so he does not get made fun of in school. He said if Santa has room for a ds he can bring that as well, but I told him Santa will get him what he needs most this year..I am hoping there is someone out there listening to those whom have a spouse unemployed and willing to help. Christmas is about jesus not gifts and give me give me. tons of families are struggling. you should ask for needs not wants. like i would like help with my electric bill or help with clothes.

Goodmorning I’am asking that you help me grant my son 6yr. CHristms wish. I’am currently unemployeed and times are hard for me, I only receives $266.00 bi-weekly and the bill collectors are harassing me daily for payment. I’ve been looking for a job and submittinf my resumes for employment but nothing have not yet came threw. I’am asking that you help me grant Savion’s wishes on Christmas morning, because of hte circumstances that I’ve face this year. I’am a graduate of a Medical/Billing Coding haven’t taken my certification yet. I was collectiong child support but since the non-custodial parent have a new job its hard for the state to catch up with him. I also wasn’t able to get the proper fall/winter gear for him. I currenlty is living with my mom and paying her $150.00 when I can. Please I’am asking to help me help make christms morning happy he’s asking for toy figures and family games of his age. I was at a point of giving up but I do have FAITH. He’s my proud and joy honor roll student of all A’s. He’s father don’t even call or try and come by to see him. I give all my problems to my creator the holy father and let him see me threw.

Hello,I was hoping to get some info on hfound ow give my 18 month old daughter,Isabel Namyra, a nice christmas this year. Our little family has been through alot afew weeks after her birth. My husbands a Union Iron worker out of west Palm, Fla., he’s been lay-off for about 3 years now andwas denied unemployment. This past year and half just turned out so horrible. Isabel was born a premee(6 weeks) and was hospitalized for 3 weeks after with only a feeding tube,which was a good thing.The bad thing about was I was only able to see her a couple times a week due to finances which just about killed me.I was unable to breast feed b/c she was in the nic-icu 45 minutes away. my husband was still layed off and I resigned from my job to move to Fla. Our house forclosed on us 3 months after she came home. We moved to WVa. where I’m from into my mothers house with my sister and her son. Eventually he found a job at an apartment complex and he worked for our rent and utilities. It was mainly for college student so after a few semester my husband was terminated and they never told him so he continued to do his job(he found out 3rd party on the internet).I was 4 months pregnant with a baby boy.We were both stressed which wasn’t good for the pregnancy. The next day stopped at a stop sign, the car in front of us slammed into reverse and smashed in the front of my car. Three days later I misscarried and had to delivery my 4 month old dead son. I was devistated. A wk later we got an eviction notice but it was mailed instead of being hand delivered.Isabel does have some trauma from the wreck now. She wakes up screaming with horrible nightmares and refuses to eat. Her first Cristmas wasn’t really a Christmas at all. Dave and I had no money and could not give her gifts…it broke our hearts. We thought this year would be better, but it’s looking about the same if not worse. we maynot get a Thanksgiving this year due to the economy. I don’t ask for much in life,except to be a good Christian and be here to take care and make my family happy!!! We do have trouble getting her clothes. she’s been wearing alot of 3-9month clothes still. It looks like she waiting for a flood..LOL! she is my world and it’s litteraly breaking my heart taht I can’t give her a nice cristmas this year. My only wish is that I can see her smile and get so excited Christmas mornig. I hope my wish comes true. God bless

Hello, I am a 37 year old mother of 6, recently going through a separation from my husband of 20 years. I have relocated to another state to be closer to family. I have been searching for a job since July of this year, I have lots of skills and expereince and I am also looking to finish school and earn a degree. Unfortunately, I have not found a job as of yet and I do not know how we are going to continue to survive without an income. It looks as though we will definitely not have a Christmas, let alone anything else. My main concern is making sure that my family have what they need which is food, clothing and shelter. Thanks.

I lost my job and had to move I just now got a job and have four kids to get christmas for they dont have a toys for tots in my area and the salvation army told me there not taken any more applications.
