Thanksgiving is next week and Christmas just four weeks later. This time of the year always seems to fly by too quickly. In all our hustle and bustle of preparing for a happy holiday, we sometimes forget those who are less fortunate. For so many families in need throughout our country who are worrying about how they will provide for the basic necessities and a few simple presents for their children, the holiday season brings anxiety in place of “good cheer.”
This year, there are even more low-income families humbly asking for help in providing their children with what may be taken for granted by more fortunate children of all ages. Some families have posted their circumstances on NanaFinds in hope that someone might offer to help them. But, I fear most will go unnoticed…but, a few have not.
- I heard from one young mother in Ocean County, New Jersey who is in need of a Christmas Tree. I found her a donor, but have not heard back from the young mother.
- One California woman generously chose to help two Texas families – one has connected with her, but the other has not contacted me as of today.
- A Texas family has offered to help a family in the Dallas area, but unfortunately many of the pleas have not included their area of residence.
- A Lions Club contacted me asking if I knew of a family to help in the Houston, Texas area. I believe they connected, but I have not heard back from either of them.
To those who are looking for help, visit WishUponAHero.com. I posted about the website last year – it is an online community of people helping people. Just recently, one mother wrote me that she learned about WishUponAHero.com on this blog. She left her request for Christmas help and received a reply from a donor the next day. Please try that website. You may have better luck there. When you visit the site, you’ll also see they are giving away $25 food wishes for the next 25 days (as of this posting date).
I thank all who have offered their help to those who left their desperate pleas on NanaFinds.com. I also hope that the families in need find their Angel in time for Christmas.
I’m giving it another try. Go to the New Help Forum Page. Click on this link.
To all of you who are seeking help for your family,
I have closed comments. Unfortunately, the few “donors” who responded with offers to help turned out to be deceitful. It breaks my heart to read all the requests for Christmas help and to find that so few are willing to donate. And it makes my blood boil knowing now that there are people who don’t mind adding to your heartbreak by playing a sick joke by offering help and then not responding. I am truly sorry I couldn’t help any of you.
