Help for Low-Income Families | Help My Family, Please
Close to two hundred families posted requests for Christmas help on NanaFinds.com during the past three
months. Out of those two hundred, five families found their “angel.” Because of that small success, I’m opening this post up for families who are looking for an “angel” or a group of “angels” to help them in some capacity during 2011.
Request Help for Your Family
I want to make this clear for all who read this, there is no guarantee that an angel will respond but there is the possibility. By submitting a “comment” below, you give NanaFinds.com permission to publish your information of your own free will and you accept full responsibility for the outcome. You must be at least 18 years old.

Guidelines for Angels
To the “angels” who may wish to help a family in need, leave a “comment” below. Your comment will come to me in my email and will not appear publicly. I will contact you before contacting the family you are interested in helping.
- Include your first name and last initial.
- Include your county and state.

- Include which family you wish to learn more about and interested in helping.
- Include a brief description on how you may be able to offer assistance.

Also, I review each “comment” personally. I will post the appropriate ones that follow the guidelines and include the information as listed above as soon as I am able. I teach full time and often have homework. Please have patience if you don’t see your post immediately. Remember, this is through the Internet…be safe in all you do.
May you all have a better year in 2011…

TEXAS – Fort Worth area: Hi my name is Jennifer Nash and I have 3 children, ages 16, 13, and 11. We are homeless and living in a hotel temporarly. We are in need of much and have tried to ask for help through different resources but was not lucky. I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know things will work out for our good. Thank you and be blessed.
I’m from Dallas, Tx. I am asking for an angel out there that can help me and my 2 boys for Christmas. They are 13 and 15 yrs. old. I just recently lost my job and have had no luck finding a new one. I applied for food stamps and am waiting on the approval for it. My kids like Gamestop, Half-Price Books, Wal-Mart, Super Target, Toy r us. Any kind of help would be very much appreciated. I have tried local churches and charities and have been turned away.
I’m praying for any Angels in Bexar County Texas!!
My name is Ginger N. I recently posted a request for help. I just wanted to add a little more info that I forgot to post (12/8/11).
I have been calling every organization there is for help, but have had no luck.
Majority of the “toys for tots” programs & such will only offer gifts or help of any kind to families with children under 12 years old (mine are 14, 16 & 21).
I just wanted to leave a little info about my kids:
My children are in much need of clothing (jeans, shirts, longer tank tops for layering, jackets, etc. & must adhere to school dress codes…I will be more than happy to elaborate, if anyone would like).
Everyone needs blankets also.
The kids are definitely in the electronic age!
My youngest daughter (14) is very artistic, funny & bright. She has been wanting a “Nook” (similar to the ipad, but much cheaper), an ipod,& loves movies. She loves to draw. She loves to read (loves the “Warriors” series & is behind on several books & mangas). She has been wanting a jewelry making set (wire/beads/stones, etc) for quite some time. There is so many things that she would love. She is in much need of clothes (jeans, tank tops, shirts, jacket, pj’s, etc).
My son (16) is an xbox 360 fan, loves rock music (metallica is a fave), & has recently began learning to play guitar (electric). He is very thankful & respectful. He would love anything to do with xbox 360 (games), an ipod, rock t-shirts, jeans, a jacket (saw one at Zumiez that he absolutely loves!).
My oldest daughter (21) is a full-time, work study student (40/hrs week). She is in need of clothing for school (dress code). She would absolutely love a lap-top-even a smaller one or even a refurbished one (hers broke about 8 mths ago & we’ve been unable to replace it). She has been trying for a long time to find a job (to help our family-to repair our vehicle, to help get her siblings gifts & just every day things that they need), but hasn’t had any luck due to her school schedule. She is a great kid & would love almost anything! She is also in need of a new purse (she is borrowing one from a friend).
Having our vehicle fixed would be the greatest gift – it would help so much! My disabilities cause so much pain (having to walk/carry bags), my oldest daughter has apx 60 lbs of school supplies that she has to lug on the bus daily.
I would be happy to elaborate more, if anyone would like. Please, there must be angels in Texas!
God bless! Merry Christmas!
Hi & Merry Christmas to all.
Please, we need help!
My name is Ginger. I am a single, disabled mom of 3. I am only receiving SSI & a small amount of state assistance. I have 3 wonderful children. I have 2 girls (21 & 14) & 1 boy (16). I don’t receive child support, I’ve been trying to get a child support order established for 2 yrs now (they’re dad has been difficult to locate). I try to donate plasma twice a week to have a little extra cash (when I don’t end up getting sick from donating too frequently).
I am constantly falling behind on utility bills, don’t have much money for food (when my benefits are used up). I struggle monthly to get by as it is & it breaks my heart that I haven’t been able to even get a Christmas tree, much less any gifts or things that they need (all items of clothing).
I know my children are teens, but I desperately need help getting them gifts for Christmas. My kids are such a blessing & they deserve so much more than what I can give them.
My oldest daughter is a full-time (work study) student (40 hrs/wk). both her & my son have both been diligently trying to find a job, but they’ve been unsuccessful.
Recently, our vehicle (it was given to me about 6 mths ago-the owner is in jail & there is no title) broke down & I’ve been unable to fix it. My son has been a blessing & has been assisting me with repairs as much as possible. It’s just been one thing after another & now its too difficult & costly for us to repair.
So on top of it all, we have to mostly walk or take the bus everywhere. I have many physical problems that cause me to be disabled & unable to work (neck/back, etc) which leave me in constant pain, so having to walk & carry bags is quite difficult for me.
Please, if anyone in the Bexar county area of Texas could please, please help us? It would be such a huge blessing to see my children smile & be happy on Christmas! In addition, if anyone could please assist us with our need for a vehicle or help repair this one, that would be a dream come true!
Thank you to everyone, God bless & Merry Christmas!
Ginger
MASSACHUSETTS – Boston area: Hi, my name is Khrystal and I am the single parent of a beautiful 4 year old boy. I currently work at a University as an assistant, but the pay is extrodinarily low. After daycare ($1,000/mo) is ripped from my pay check, I am left with $251/week. My rent alone (for a one bedroom that my son and I share) cost $1000/mo. I continue to keep my job because of the market and because I am able to go to college for free as an employee (at nights). It is the sacrifice I make now for a better future for my son. I recenlty received my monthly eviction notice and am still behind $200 on rent and have not even begun to save for December’s rent (due today). I am considered the working poor and was denied by DTA (Welfare) being told that I could receive services if I added to my family size (What? They are suggesting I have another child that I can’t afford; no wonder this country is falling apart). My LICSW from my divorce calls me “supermom” and told me that I would do better if I did not work, but I have too much pride to lay down and die. I often cannot go to food pantries (as I have no car and most pantries have p/u during the work week). I cannot get other state assistance because they use DTA as a benchmark for accepting into other assistance programs (WIC; Fuel Assistance, Toys for Tots). I often go hungry saving what little food I have for my son. We do not have the common necessaties (heat/food) or taken-for-granted luxuries (no TV or internet/toys for Christmas/tree). The problem is that society tells children that if they are “naughty” that they will not get toys from Santa. Knowing that I can’t even afford a tree or to keep the roof over our head and now my son is going to believe that he is “naughty” when he is in deed a wonderful child. It just breaks my heart. Any help with bring Christmas into our home is welcome and would be greatly appreciated. You would be making a difference in a young boys life. God bless!
Here is Khrystal’s son’s wish list:
I have contacted local churches and Salvation Army and have received no response. Any of the items below either new or used are acceptable. I just want to have something to give to him, as he so much deserves it. My son has asked Santa for the following:
Fisher-Price GeoTrax Fire Station
Fisher-Price GeoTrax Quarry
Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Take-n-Play Set – Rumbling Gold Mine Run
LeapFrog TAG Reading System – Green
LeapFrog TAG Junior Activity Storybook – Thomas & Friends: Best Friends
Soccer Ball (kids size)
Tennis Racket (kids size)
Many, many thanks,
MICHIGAN: Hi, my name is Virginia. I’m in wexford county michigan. I have 3 teenage daughters. This has been a very rough year for our family. We lost our home due to my partner’s lay off. We ended up having to relocate 200 miles farther than we expected as there was a job offer. Lisa has been working for two months and we’re still trying to catch up. I have heart problems, I just got out of the hospital yesterday. I would love to give my girls a small Christmas, they have been troops through everything.
We’re hoping by being diligent and working hard that we will be able to get back on our feet throughout this next year. We’re hoping we can pay it forward next year to another family who has hit a rough patch. Thanks for reading. V
Dear friend:
ALABAMA: My name is April. I live in a extremely rural area in the deep South. Winston Co.Alabama to be exact. My county is one of the poorest in the state. My circumstances are rather dire this year due to our families inability to find work. My days and nights are filled with anxiety on how my husband and I will provide gifts for our daughters this holiday. We are both unemployed as of present and are actively seeking work but when you live in such a very rural area as we do, it’s hard to find anything. Actually, we have applied at over 8 different employers, yet the calls still aren’t coming. We are 2 hard working individuals we believe that one has to earn their way which is why it embarrasses me to ask for help. We have 2 daughters. One is 5 and in kindergarten and the other is 4 and stays home with me. I worry so much how we will be able to give them a proper Christmas. My husband and I have always worked and have never experienced such hard times or been unable to provide for our children. Every day that brings us closer to Christmas day is another day full of trouble and anxiety for me. We’ve had no money to even begin anykind of shopping. Every single penny we get goes for the stack of bills that are behind and near their cut-off date. All I want is some nice things for my babies this year. I thank you for your time reading my post and hope you have a safe and merry Christmas season. God Bless.

LOUISIANA: Hi my name is Holly. I live in Livingston Parish in the SSouthern part of Louisiana. I am looking for a little help this year for my 2 year daughter. This year has been a real test. My husband had lost his job in January right after our son was born. And the money has been really tight since. And then in April we lost our sson to SIDS ( Sudden Infant Death Syndrome ). He was 3 months and 25 days old. With all of the funeral cost we have sank further into debt. Hust recently my husband found a job, but the money that is coming in is just enough to get all the bills paid. And we won’t be able to afford Christmas for our daughter this year. If any can please help my family and I will be very grateful.
